Bran Monastery
One of the very young monastic establishments of the Archdiocese of Sibiu, existing since April 2006, Bran Monastery is situated on the top of the hill that overlooks the village of Şimon - part of the Bran commune - in an area of unique picturesque beauty, offering an impressive panorama of the four significant landforms that surround it:
- Piatra Craiului Massif
- Bucegi Massif
- Postăvaru Massif
- Măgura Codlei
In another fortunate coincidence, the site where the monastery was founded is soaked in the blood and bones of Romanian soldiers who fell in the resistance battles fought along the Rucăr-Bran corridor during World War I. In fact, in honor of their sacrifice, a commemorative cross was erected in the immediate vicinity of the church.
Church Celebrations
The main church celebrates as Church of the Twelve Apostles on June 30, while the feast of the future chapel will be Sunday of the Holy Myrrhbearers.
Liturgical Schedule
According to the liturgical schedule of the hermitage, services are held daily starting at:
- 7 PM
- 4:30 AM
On Sundays and holidays, they take place at:
- 7 PM
- 9 AM
The local customs dictate that confession and communion for the congregation should occur at least weekly, and the consumption of meat is prohibited within the premises of the establishment.
Relics
In the narthex of the hermitage church, there are relics of the holy remains of Saint Martyr Teodosie from Brazi and the Holy Martyrs from Sinai, placed for veneration in a wooden reliquary.
