Most likely, not many ancestors are familiar with this name. The village of Bunești used to have another name, a Romanian but old one, recognized as Bundorf, Bondorf, or Bondref. Whatever name we give it, this settlement represents the residence of the commune with the same name, located right in Brașov County of our country.

Location and Significance

Thus, to recap briefly, the village of Bunești is situated in Brașov County, more precisely in Transylvania. Its name is somewhat amusing, considering what the correct designation for the inhabitants of this settlement would be.

Nevertheless, the village is important in terms of resources, given the salt massif found right beneath the locality.

Notable Personalities

The village of Bunești is also known for the personalities it boasts. The zoologist, oceanographer, and even eco-physiologist Eugen Pora was born here, holding the title of full member of the Romanian Academy during his lifetime.

Although it is not extremely vast and does not have an overwhelming size, the village of Bunești hosts a series of local events that many of us would like to know about.

The population of the commune of Bunești is in continuous decline, with 2,357 inhabitants in 2011. Unfortunately, the current trend remains downward, which reduces the commune's chances of expanding and developing.

However, if you plan a weekend in the Brașov area, remember to make a small stop in this commune and, respectively, in the village of Bunești.
