The Fortress of Ruși

In the village of Ruși, halfway between Sibiu and Mediaș, you can't help but notice the fortress with its leaning tower. The small evangelical church was built in the 14th century, and the tower was constructed at the same time. However, over the last few centuries, nature has made its mark, and due to landslides, the tower has tilted a few degrees. Its inclination is so pronounced that it can be seen even from several kilometers away.

Condition of the Church and Tower

The church is largely in a state of advanced decay. The tower requires significant reinforcement work, but the prayer hall is not in a better condition either. In fact, its structure is also affected by the landslides.

Surroundings

The church and tower are surrounded by a defensive wall, and access to the interior is through a gate. However, this is permanently locked, but you can enter the fortress through the cracks along the wall.
