Visit the Weaver's Bastion in Brașov
You can't leave Brașov without visiting the Weaver's Bastion. You may not have even heard of this historical landmark that can't be fully captured in any book, but it will leave you pleasantly surprised.
Historical Significance
You should know that the bastion is part of a series of seven bastions built in the 12th and 13th centuries around the municipality of Brașov. Its name comes from the weavers' guild, one of the most respected guilds in Brașov, and it was also responsible for constructing the building that served to defend the southern part of the fortress.
Architectural Features
The architecture of the Weavers' Bastion is somewhat atypical:
- The building surrounds a vast courtyard where it is said that guild members would gather during attacks or for military training meetings.
- Each side of the bastion is "draped" with galleries made of thick wooden beams.
- At the ends of the building, you can see two small towers that were used for observation.
