In Harghita County, in Corund, hundreds of potters live who have the gift of transforming a piece of clay into a unique object. The craft here has been passed down from generation to generation.

The Crafting Technique

The technique used is as follows:

  • The clay is kneaded well with a little water and cleaned of impurities.
  • It is then cut into strips and shaped on the potter's wheel until it takes the desired form.
  • After a few days, it is placed in the oven.

Before firing in the oven, the vessels will be decorated by artisans using special paint prepared by them, in traditional colors: blue, black, yellow, brown, and green. A product is processed for up to 150 hours to be completed.
