The Forgotten Fortress of Petreşti

Ladislau Ciocan
•September 5, 2012

The Fortress at Petrești

As I mentioned in the title, unfortunately, the fortress at Petrești is one of the least known fortresses in Transylvania, although its beauty is unparalleled. Built over 500 years ago, today, the structure located in the heart of Petrești, a town that also gave its name to the *Petrești Neolithic culture*, is a forgotten corner of the world.

The State of the Fortress

Due to the passage of time, the fortress has become a ruin overtaken by nature. The most eloquent example is the fortress tower, which is engulfed by a thick layer of ivy.

The Surrounding Landscape

The surrounding landscape, however, is dreamlike and extremely rare, even in Romania.
