The Shepherds' Festival in Tilișca
Every year, on the day of Saint Mary, August 15th, Tilișca dresses in traditional attire, and the shepherds take to the streets to celebrate. From all corners of the village, the sounds of flutes can be heard, and the girls and boys begin to cheer and dance.
A Revived Tradition
The Shepherds' Festival is an old tradition from Tilișca, a locality in the Mărginimea Sibiului region, which had not been organized for several decades.
Revival of the Festival
- Eight years ago, the local authorities decided to revive the festival, making the place a meeting point once again for the shepherds in the area.
- The festival features:
- Parades of traditional costumes
- Performances by folk ensembles
- Other traditional events
It is a delight for tourists, both Romanian and foreign.
