It's Halloween again, and the perfect place to spend this day can only be Transylvania. Legends of werewolves and witches, castles haunted by ghosts, medieval towns, and last but not least, the myth of Dracula are the main ingredients for a frightful Halloween. And we have plenty of these throughout Transylvania.
Many say that the best place to spend this day is Sighișoara. Beyond the fact that the fortress can be visited even at night, a walk up the School Steps at midnight is more than terrifying.
Also at midnight, in the old town, there is:
The most tense moment is visiting the house of Vlad Dracul, the house where he was born in 1431.
Another perfect place for a night of fright is at Dracula's Castle. Full of mystical legends, the 15th-century castle reveals all the secrets that have made it one of the most feared castles in the world.
Here, a show depicting Dracula's wedding typically takes place at midnight, along with a masquerade ball. Tourists can explore the entire castle, which is said to be the most haunted in the world.
For those who want to spend the night dancing while keeping in mind that it’s Halloween night, Sibiu is the perfect choice. Most of the clubs in the old town are located in the ancient cellars of houses built during the medieval era.
In all of these, Halloween-themed parties are organized. In some, there are even carnivals where the most terrifying costume is awarded.
In Brașov, Halloween night is celebrated in style. Every year, a treasure hunt is organized in the heart of Brașov.
The hunt begins in front of the G. Barițiu County Library, and to find the treasure, participants must go through several challenges and solve mysteries. Although it may seem simple, don't forget that Brașov is also known as the City of Ghosts, so on Halloween night, you'll need to be twice as vigilant.
