Introduction to Păltiniş Resort
Păltiniş Resort is a perfect location for a weekend where you want to practice winter sports or take walks through the glacial lake reserve of *Iezerele Cindrelului. Founded by the Transylvanian Carpathian Society of Tourists - SKV (Siebenbürgischer Karpatenverein) in 1894, it is the oldest mountain resort* in Romania.
Location and Altitude
Păltiniş is located in the northeast of the Cindrel Mountains in the Southern Carpathians, 32 km southwest of Sibiu, in the midst of a coniferous forest, at the highest altitude (1442 m) in the country.
Climate and Weather
The average annual temperature of this resort is +4 degrees Celsius, with:
- An average of 12 degrees C in July
- An average of -6 degrees C in January
Summer rains are frequent but short-lived, and the snow cover is present here for 120 days a year.
Skiing Conditions
Skiing conditions are very good from December until April. The slopes in Păltiniş Resort are accessible to all winter sports enthusiasts.
