The natural bridge at Grohot, the little-known wonder of Transylvania.

Introduction

As soon as you pass the village of Grohot in Hunedoara, you can't help but notice the signs directing you to the Geological Reserve *The Natural Bridge at Grohot*. Spanning an area of one hectare and measuring 45 meters in length, the bridge was formed after the collapse of a cave, leaving only the ceiling and side walls.

Unique Structure

In fact, the bridge at Grohot, along with Apolodor's Bridge from Damas over the Danube, located in Mehedinți County, are the only naturally formed structures of this kind. The Grohot Bridge is crossed by the river of the same name.

Visitor Information

We must tell you that the area is not a perfect destination for tourists, as it is not developed for that purpose. However, for hiking enthusiasts in such places, which are slightly untouched by civilization, there are trails that start from this area and offer fantastic landscapes. Additionally, the region is home to several caves, and the distance from there to the famous Gâina Mountain is short.

Getting There

You can reach the Natural Bridge at Grohot either:

  • Via DN76 to Țebea, and then on county road 762 to Bulzeștii de Sus
  • By train to Țebea station, followed by a bus to Bulzeștii de Sus.
