
You may have heard of Rotbav in passing, but we must definitely write about the beauties of this Brașov locality. The story behind its founding is just as beautiful. It is said that in 1170, 11 families were brought to the area to establish a new settlement. As enemy attacks were quite common, a few decades later, the village moved further east. The name of the village also comes from a merciless attack: the legend tells that after one such invasion, the people washed their clothes in a river that turned red from the blood flowing from the garments. "Rot" means "red" in German.
In Rotbav, you will undoubtedly find one of the most beautiful fortified castles in the Land of Bârsa.
