An Oasis of Tranquility in Romania

An oasis of tranquility descends upon a small locality in the heart of Romania. Located in Brașov County, somewhat equidistant from Brașov and Sibiu, the town of Făgăraș endures and unmistakably marks the geographical center of the country. To be precise, it is found at the exit of Făgăraș towards Brașov, a place of significance that, I believe, many would wish to reach. As a tourist, to arrive in Romania and not mark this little spot means not to see Romania at all!

Cultural Importance and Tourism

We are about to justify the aforementioned statement – the town of Făgăraș is traversed by four rivers, namely Făgărășel, Olt, Galați, and Berivoi. The latter used to play an extremely important role, as it was the source of supply for the chemical platform found in times long past.

Tourist Attractions

But let’s return to the increased cultural importance and the related tourism that should positively mark the desire of visitors to be present, at least once in their lifetime, in the town of Făgăraș. Besides the clean mountain air, breathtaking views, complete tranquility, and welcoming people, there are a series of tourist attractions meant to be admired:

  • The first, and also the most imposing fortification, is the Făgăraș Fortress, globally renowned and listed among the most beautiful fortresses in Europe.
  • The statue of Doamna Stanca is predominantly admired, visited, and recommended for discussion, as it is possible that while there, you might pass by it, due to the fact that the naked eye cannot pay attention to so many aspects at once.
  • The Monument of Romanian Heroes was erected in 1931, marking World War I – and not only.

Undoubtedly, once you arrive in the center of Romania, you should also add a mountain excursion to your list, from which the town of Făgăraș can be the best starting point. Believe it or not, if you wish to make ascents, regardless of the level of difficulty, you can do so from any starting pass in this area.

Exploring Făgăraș

Additionally, if you want to get to know the municipality of Făgăraș in its entirety, don’t forget to cross the National College “Radu Negru” – this is a true pilot school, a construction of real interest and significance for the region we are referring to.

Conclusion

Thus, being one of the most prolific areas in terms of tourism and the overflowing tranquility that settles in every season, it is preferable to arrive here to understand the beauties of life.
