On November 26-27, 2026, Cluj-Napoca, one of the most important urban and cultural centers in Transylvania, will host the first national conference dedicated to the development of tourism in Romania in the current cycle. The event will take place in a rich historical and cultural context, offering participants a unique experience of networking and debate on the theme of valorizing Romania's treasure.
Cluj-Napoca, the ancient Castrum Clus mentioned since the Roman period and developed as a Saxon and Hungarian medieval fortress, provides a perfect setting for debates on valorizing Romania's treasure. The city is known for its rich architecture, with Gothic, Baroque, and Secessionist elements, as well as its vibrant and cultural atmosphere.
Before and after the conference, participants will have the opportunity to discover the city's unique tourist attractions. These include:
The Roman-Catholic Church of St. Michael in Union Square, one of the most grandiose Gothic constructions in Transylvania; The Bánffy Palace, a landmark of Transylvanian Baroque architecture, which hosts the collections of the Art Museum; The "Alexandru Borza" Botanical Garden, spread over 14 hectares, renowned for its Japanese garden and tropical greenhouses; The Cetățuia Hill, a former Habsburg fortress offering the most beautiful panorama of the city; The Central Park "Simion Bărnuțiu" and the old Casino Building, recently restored in the spirit of the 19th century; The Transylvanian Ethnographic Museum, with its outdoor section in the Hoia Forest, where authentic traditional rural households are exhibited.
Near the city, major attractions such as the Turda Gorge and the Turda Salt Mine can be found, accessible in less than an hour's drive. These offer unique opportunities for excursions and exploration of nature and cultural heritage.
Restaurants in the old city center showcase reinterpreted modern Transylvanian dishes, such as Cluj-style cabbage and regional artisanal cheeses. Participants will have the opportunity to discover and savor these local delicacies.
The end of November brings a rare opportunity to connect sustainable tourism initiatives with the vibrant atmosphere of Cluj before the winter markets open. The Development of Tourism in Romania 2026 Conference is a reference event that offers unique opportunities for networking, debate, and exploration of Romania's tourist potential.
Registration for the event is open, and participants are invited to join the community of experts and professionals in the tourism field to discuss and develop sustainable tourism initiatives in Romania.
We look forward to seeing you in Cluj-Napoca on November 26-27, 2026, to be part of this unique experience!
