In Sibiel, a village located just 20 kilometers from Sibiu, tourists passing through this area can discover the largest collection of glass icons in Transylvania. The permanent exhibition is organized right in the house of priest Zosim Oancea, who began collecting icons from all over the country starting in 1964.
The museum consists of two buildings, and the icons mainly come from regions such as:
Some of the icons are over 200 years old, and currently, the collection in Sibiel boasts more than 400 glass icons. Each year, over 15,000 tourists visit the museum to enjoy the collection in priest Zosim's house.
The road to the museum, once you arrive in Sibiel, is very straightforward; it is located right between the Church and the cemetery, at the entrance to the village.
