
Gold Mining Museum in Roșia Montană
Located near a former mining site, the Gold Mining Museum in Roșia Montană is a true collection that recalls the history of this area regarding gold mining.
Exhibits
From models of the former Roman galleries stretching for dozens of kilometers to tools once used in mining, everything can be seen here. Visitors can also find:
- Stamp mills, a construction used to separate gold from stone, which were employed for crushing rocks.
- These were once powered by animals and later by water.
Visiting Information
The museum is open for visits from Monday to Friday between 8 AM and 2 PM, and group visits of at least five people are conducted with a guide. Larger groups of over 20 people can also make reservations for Saturdays and Sundays.
