Anyone embarking on a trip along Transalpina should not forget to stop at one of the guesthouses or traditional houses along the route and ask for a serving of Transylvanian bean soup in bread. The locals will prepare a soup like you’ve never tasted anywhere else. It’s no wonder that it is said that soup in bread finds its home in the villages around Sibiu and Alba.

Recipe for Transylvanian Bean Soup in Bread

The recipe is quite simple:

  1. Once the bean soup is ready, either buy some small loaves of bread or make them in the oven or bread machine.
  2. Scoop out the insides.
  3. Pour in the soup.
  4. Cover it with another piece of bread, acting as a lid.

Let it sit for a few minutes, but remember to serve it while it’s still hot. Enjoy your meal!
