The Largest Saltwater Spa in Romania
The largest saltwater spa in Romania, covering an area of approximately 5,200 square meters, was opened on Saturday in Praid (Harghita). The investment, amounting to 1.55 million euros, was entirely funded by the salt mine in the resort, reports MEDIAFAX correspondent.
Spa Features
The spa in Praid has been set up on the site of an old spa that had deteriorated and was closed for several years. According to Ilie Colorian, head of the Tourism Service at Salina Praid, the spa spans an area of 5,200 square meters, of which the water surface is 1,942 square meters.
The spa features:
- Two children's pools, starting at a depth of 60 centimeters, gradually increasing to 90 centimeters, and then reaching a maximum depth of 1.20 meters.
- A large swimming pool, equipped with a bar, with a depth of 1.60 meters.
- A one-meter-wide transition area under a bridge, serving as an interconnection zone for the pools.
"It is the largest complex of its kind in Transylvania and Romania," stated Ilie Colorian.
Beach Area and Facilities
The beach area covers 2,478 square meters and extends along the pools, as well as on a terrace located on the roof of a building that is part of the complex. Currently, 300 sun loungers have been installed, which are not charged separately.
The two-story building houses:
- A self-service line
- A kitchen
- A bar
- An open-air restaurant terrace
- A covered restaurant terrace
While the ground floor features:
- A showroom and sales area for the salt mine's own products
- Changing rooms
- Showers
- Restrooms
- A first aid point with medical staff ready to assist those in need
The hot water for domestic use and showers is produced by solar installations.
Inauguration Day
On Saturday, prior to the official inauguration scheduled for 2:00 PM, entry to the spa was free, and several hundred people took advantage of the offer to visit the complex and take a dip in the saltwater.
