I chose this vacation primarily to escape, to forget, to leave behind everything that needed to be left behind, and to start anew. Do you know this scenario? I believe you do. This summer, I fully embraced it. Not very enthusiastically, I picked a few days at the beginning of September. That’s how I wanted it... the start of autumn.
Fatigue had even stolen the enthusiasm that used to linger around me whenever I made plans to leave. I chose the destination, the location, and largely even the itinerary we followed.
Râșnov and its surroundings were our destination. Located in the center of the country, in the upper part of the Bârsa region, at the foot of the Postăvaru massif, not far from the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Mountains, and at the northern end of the Rucăr, Bran, and Predeal corridor, the town of Râșnov has preserved for centuries the same historic charm of a prosperous burg.
No, I wasn't alone on this vacation... I was with my child and my future husband. From the moment we arrived in the mountains until we left our little oasis of vacation, we didn't stay still for a moment.
Except for lunches and stops at patisseries, we kept moving non-stop. We were desperate not to waste even a minute aimlessly.
Gradually, I distanced myself more and more from what had tired me all summer long and drew closer to true relaxation.
What relaxation, that’s an understatement! It was true freedom! I tied my hair into two pigtails, pampered my skin with sunscreen, slung my backpack on my back, and I was ready to go. I lived every moment to the fullest.
I immersed myself delightfully in one of the most beautiful and interesting journeys I have ever had. The rain that caught us on the last day of our stay in the mountain paradise settled my memories well, wiped away the last remnants of fatigue, and opened my eyes to the things worth living for.
That, besides the fact that it soaked me to the skin :).
