According to the 2011 census, the commune of Vâlcele in Covasna County had 4,292 inhabitants. Interestingly, what puts this locality on the top lists is the increasing number, as 9 years earlier, there were 3,698 people here – a truly steady growth.

Balneoclimatic Center

However, the village of Vâlcele is not only recognized for this – for over 3 years, it has been home to one of the most renowned balneoclimatic centers in our country. Thus, in 2014, the official opening (or, as we call it, the reopening) took place. Good or bad, the commune of Vâlcele used to be a highly visited resort during the latter half of the 19th century (from 1850 onwards), thanks to the beneficial powers of the medicinal waters. Since then and until 2014, however, things were not destined to favor tourism.

Nevertheless, nowadays, the village of Vâlcele enjoys a steady number of visitors who come to experience its healing waters – thus, due to its facilities, the resort attracts thousands of eyes and tourists eager to enjoy its powers. Among these features are:

• A large number of baths with mineral water
• Saunas of all types
• Free changing rooms

The main ailments that the miraculous water from Vâlcele treats are:

According to recent feedback, it apparently also has benefits for cancer or even paralysis. Even so, there is a growing number of contraindications that anyone arriving in Vâlcele should consider, including:

• High blood pressure
• Febrile states
• Certain dermatological diseases
• Visiting the healing waters within 6 months of a heart attack or stroke

Additionally, pregnant women are prohibited from entering the area.
