If you pass through Mălăncrav, before you leave, don't forget to ask for a glass of apple juice. Surely one of the villagers will be more than happy to serve you. The locality of Mălăncrav, a village near Sighișoara, has become known abroad not only for the Apafi manor or the beauty of the area but also for the apple juice produced here every year.
The old orchard here, covering an area of over 100 hectares, was transformed into an organic orchard in 2002. Annually, over 22,000 liters of juice are produced, most of which is for export.
The juice production is manual, adhering to a tradition that is several hundred years old. The bottling of the juice is also done without any preservatives, and the shelf life of the juice is one year.
So don’t hesitate, and if you live near Brașov, Târgu-Mureș, or Sibiu, a trip this weekend to Mălăncrav is perfect.
